In honour of Black History Month in the US, we decided to compile a list of some of our favourite US-based black influencers. This list includes bloggers, activists, Instagrammers, writers, models and more. Some of those featured are hugely popular, while others are hidden diamonds who deserve more attention. This is Part 1 of this post because there are so many awesome babes to feature that I had to split up the post so it wasn’t ridiculously long. I implore you to check out their Instagrams and view more of their work. All of these folks are wonderful and you should be following them!

La’Shaunae Steward
La’Shaunae is a total powerhouse. I’m thrilled to feature her as our first example of black girl magic. Last year she collaborated with Jeffrey Campbell on a plus size shoe collection, and she rocks animal print like no one else.

LaToya is a plus size blogger based in Chicago. She has the most contagious grin and offers a new perspective for fashion on her blog as someone who is both plus sizeĀ and petite.

As well as that, she is the founder of You Belong Now, which is described as a ‘movement of creatives, advocating for socio-political justice & developing the creative skills of a new generation.

Who hasn’t heard of Gabi Fresh? As her Instagram states, she’s one of the ‘OG Fat Girls’. Gabi was one of the first plus-size black bloggers to really get mainstream attention. More recently, Gabi has created lingerie collections with our faves Playful Promises, swimsuit collections with Swimsuits For All, and she has her fashion line Premme with Nicolette Mason.
