Staying comfortable throughout the day relies on having the right underwear. Your lingerie also plays an important role in shaping your clothing, ensuring your outfits are well-fitting and have the proper precision and polish. Get it right each time by following these top tips for choosing the right lingerie for your various looks.

Tight and sheer

When you’re faced with garments that leave little to the imagination, the last thing you want is for your underwear to steal the show. Opt for lingerie that is almost invisible behind tight-fitting or sheer clothes.

Strapless bras are excellent for vests with thin straps – or no straps at all – and are also useful for tops with an unusual neckline such as boat or halter. You can also find stick-on bras which provide simple support underneath dresses or tops with open backs.

For tight bottoms such as leggings or skinny jeans, thongs or seamless knickers won’t show through the fabric.

Formal workwear

Maintain your professional image from dawn until dusk with shapewear that ensures a smooth silhouette. These formfitting pieces are all-encompassing so everything is held in place and dresses and shirts can fit neatly over the top.

Remember that comfort is key when you’re at work, especially if you’re sitting down for long periods, spending hours on the road or conducting meetings. Your shapewear should give you room to manoeuvre and plenty of space to breathe. It should also be easy to put on and take off so you’re not struggling with it in public bathrooms.

Casual clothes

Lingerie for leisure time should be simple in soft fabrics which feel pleasant against the skin. Create a collection of pants in various shapes and sizes to suit your mood and needs, including a set of period pants to keep you cool and dry when you’re menstruating. Bras with no underwire ensure support without feeling too tight, perfect for when you’re lazing around at home.

Do you enjoy outdoor adventure? Invest in a sports bra to control breast movement: various holds are available, suitable for slow-paced activities like walking and high-impact pursuits such as running.

Special occasions

Your outfits will steal the show on special occasions, but your lingerie is still key. The feeling of wearing matching bras and knickers in quality materials will give you that all-important air of confidence as you network, pose for photos and get to know new people.

For extra-special moments such as weddings and anniversaries, corresponding underwear is available. Bridalwear such as lace corsets will keep your dress secure and help to mark the occasion. You can also get silky robes to wear while you’re being beautified so you don’t leave any unwanted marks on the skin.
