Whether you are shy and awkward when it comes to talking about sex, or someone who has no problem being loud and proud about your sex life, we can all take steps to be more sex positive. Being sex positive can help you with your self confidence, communication and closeness in your relationship, and allow you to have a whole lot more fun! Here are four ways to become more sex positive.

Follow sex positive influencers

Our brains tend to adapt to whatever content we are consuming, so a great first step in becoming more sex positive is to look at your timeline and see how you can add a bit of sex positivity into your daily scrolling. Look for some sex positive influencers and follow them, interacting so that the algorithm will bring you more.

Treat yourself to a new sex toy

A recent study found that 69% of women own a vibrator – no pun intended with that per centage! – and of those, 81% of them wished they hadn’t waited so long to get one. Whether this will be your first sex toy or you are adding to your collection, go shopping online for a new sex toy but before you buy anything, really consider what it is that you want from your sex toy. Find out what gets you off and look for a toy that will do that for you every time – so whether its a clit pump or your classic bullet vibrator, you know you are going to be in love with your purchase.

Communicate with your partner

If you are struggling with being able to feel sex positive, it may be because you are uncomfortable about sex or don’t know how to broach certain subjects. Unfortunately there is only way to get over that awkward feeling – and that is by diving in and forcing yourself to keep talking about it! After talking to your partner regularly, the awkwardness will start to subside, and you will realise you are feeling more positive about talking about sex overall.

Try new things together

After you and your partner have had a chat about your likes, dislikes, hopes and fantasies in the bedroom – it’s time to start trying them! Do a bit of online shopping together for everything from handcuffs to strap ons and whatever else you discussed, and make a date together to try them out. Remember to keep communication open at all times – if you aren’t keen on something, let your partner know, because if you feel like you are doing something that you don’t enjoy then you are going to find it harder to stay sex positive. You want to encourage positive feelings of excitement and joy when you are talking about sex and trying things together!
