Summer is coming and it’s time for Festival season! I have teamed up with Very to show you how I am approaching concert and festival season this year. I will be honest, I am not the kind of person who changes my handbag, my coat, or my shoes with every single outfit. When I find a pair of shoes that are comfortable for a long day or a bag that actually works with my wheelchair, I stick with them.
That might be boring but I’m all about comfort, functionality, and a statement dress! So, instead of trying to force a look that isn’t me, I am showing you how I use hero accessories. This is about one reliable denim jacket and one perfect tote that carry me through three different looks.
The Reliability of Hero Accessories
I am a firm believer in finding what works and staying loyal to it. For me, accessories need to be functional. If I am using a large tote, it needs to be sturdy enough to carry all my things on the back of my wheelchair without causing issues. The main accessory here is the Monsoon Tashie Embroidered Sun Tote Bag in black. This bag is a winner because it is a great size for the back of my chair. It is big enough for all the festival essentials like sunscreen and water, but the sun embroidery makes it feel special. It’s perfect for Spring and Summer and is a statement itself which I love!
For my second accessory I’ve gone with the Yours Curve Denim Jacket in blue. I opted for a size 20 in the jacket because usually denim comes up a little tigher and although I love a fitted look, I didn’t want to be uncomfortable. A denim jacket is the ultimate festival essential. It is sturdy, it has pockets, and it is a piece I can wear over anything without having to think twice.
By picking versatile pieces like a classic denim jacket and a selection of gorgeous midi dresses, you can create multiple looks while keeping your base accessories the same.
Look 1: The Monochrome Boho Vibe
For my first look, I have gone for a real staple. I picked out the New Look Floral Border Print Milkmaid Midi Dress in black. This is such a “me” dress because it feels effortless but looks like you have put in a lot of effort. The milkmaid style is one of my all time favourites. The border print gives it that slightly boho edge that feels so right for a festival.
Look 2: Textured Comfort

If you want something that feels a bit more tactile, the The Very Collection Curve Crinkle Button Detail Midi Dress is a dream. The crinkle fabric is a total lifesaver for festivals because it does not show creases. You can literally pull it out of your bag and it is ready to go.
Even though this is a totally different dress, I am wearing the exact same denim jacket and using the same Monsoon bag. This is how I actually dress in real life. I love that this jacket works just as well with a plain crinkle fabric as it does with a bold print. It transitions seamlessly from sunny days to late night sets with just a few styling swaps.
A midi dress is also the perfect length for me in my wheelchair. It does not get caught in the wheels but still gives me that floaty, feminine feel.
Look 3: Romantic V-Necks

Finally, I wanted to try something with a bit more of a bolder colourful feel. The New Look Bea Brod V-Neck Midi is a gorgeous option for those who want something bright and loud. It feels light and airy, which is exactly what you need when you are in a crowd.
Once again, the denim jacket is the hero. Whether I am wearing it properly or just having it nearby for when the sun goes down, it’s an easy to style piece. I do not feel the need to swap it out because it just works.
The black base of the Monsoon bag ties in perfectly with this dress too. By investing in key essentials like denim and a really good quality tote, you form the foundation of multiple outfits. You do not need to spend a huge amount on outfits you will only wear once when you have hero pieces that bridge the gap between every look.
Why I Stick to My Hero Pieces
-
Wheelchair Friendly: When a bag fits the back of my chair perfectly, I am not changing it for anyone.
-
Zero Stress: I know my denim jacket goes with every dress I own, which makes getting ready so much faster.
-
Consistency: I can wear a different dress every day of the festival but keeping my accessories the same makes my packing so much lighter.
I am so impressed with the range at Very this year. Being able to find such stylish, high quality pieces that actually fit comfortably makes getting ready for festival season a joy. These looks are all about bringing that confidence and ensuring you feel like the best version of yourself while you are making those memories.
Let me know in the comments which look is your favourite. Are you a floral milkmaid girl or do you prefer the crinkle textures?
