Schools aim to provide a range of learning opportunities for their pupils and understand their diverse learning needs. They aim to provide ample opportunities for children to go out and see what they have been learning about in the real world to consolidate their learning and renew their interest in school. They are also a chance for children to do things that they wouldn’t necessarily have the opportunity to do, like go on residential trips with their friends. Here are some of the benefits of school trips for children according to an independent school in Hertfordshire.

Bonding

It’s important for children to have good relationships with their teachers and peers. It makes school life much more enjoyable, and trips are a way in which they can create memories and bond with them. They are away from their normal classroom environment and have the opportunity to work together and explore new things alongside them.

Rewards

School trips are also nice ways of rewarding children for their hard work at school. They can motivate them to be on their best behaviour as some schools have policies in place that restrict poorly behaved children from attending.

Better Understanding

What you can do in the classroom is limited. You are only taught about theory and not much about practice. Field trips allow children to see what they’ve been learning about first-hand and even talk to experts working in the fields themselves.

Learning Styles

Children have diverse educational needs. While there are some that will happily work through a textbook, others enjoy hands-on means of learning. Field trips cater to those that belong to this category. They are known as kinaesthetic learners and learn through real life experience.

These are just a few of the reasons as to why school trips are integral to learning. For more parenting resources, check out my other blog posts.
