Plus Size Swimwear cover ups can be an essential part of any beach or poolside outfit, but not because of the reason you might think. Just because they’re called a cover up, doesn’t mean you have to do just that. In fact most of my ‘cover ups’ over the years have been lace, see-through, and show off a lot! Not only can they add style and flair to your look, but some designs can also provide much-needed sun protection and coverage. For plus size women, finding the right cover up can be a bit challenging just due to lack of choices but it’s important to keep looking until you find one that makes you feel confident and comfortable.

The material of your cover-up is such an important consideration. Do you want to choose a fabric that is lightweight and breathable, so you don’t feel hot and uncomfortable in the sun? Cotton, linen, and rayon are all good options that will keep you cool and comfortable. Avoid heavy fabrics like wool or velvet, as they will be too hot and bulky for the beach or pool, but might be an option over swimwear on a cooler day or night?

Plus size women come in all shapes and sizes, and different styles of cover-ups to suit whatever your needs or whatever you want to wear. From a flowy kaftan or a wrap dress that cinches at the waist and shows off your curves. There’s everything from tunics or a loose-fitting cover up that looks oversized.

Look for coverage as one of the main reasons to wear a cover up is to provide coverage and protection from the sun. Most swimsuits or plus size tankini tops have thin straps meaning your skin is exposed to the sun. Make sure your cover up covers the areas you want to keep covered and that burn easier. Usually this would be the tops of your shoulders and chest. Some people use cover ups as a break from the sun so be sure that the fabric isn’t see-through.

Play with prints and patterns and don’t be afraid to play with prints and patterns when choosing a cover up. Bold prints and bright colors can add a pop of color to your beach or poolside outfit and make you stand out in a sea of neutral swimwear. If you’re not a fan of bold prints, you can opt for subtle patterns like stripes or polka dots that add visual interest without being too overwhelming.

Mix and Match is one of the great things about cover ups is that they can be mixed and matched with different swimsuits and accessories to create a customized look. You can choose a cover up that matches your swimsuit for a cohesive look, or you can mix and match different colors and patterns for a more eclectic look. You can also accessorize your cover up with a sun hat, sunglasses, or a beach bag to add extra style and functionality to your outfit. I love when people wear swimwear and beach cover ups as part of their holiday wardrobe.

Try different styles fnally and don’t be afraid to try different styles of cover ups to see what works best for you. You may find that you prefer a short tunic over a maxi dress, or that you like a cover up with a hood for extra sun protection. Try on different styles and see what makes you feel the most comfortable and confident.

There are so many great styles and options out there, take a good look around, try things on and make sure to have fun picking up some plus size swimwear cover ups for your holiday!
