Here’s one for our many US readers today, a review of two cruelty-free beauty tools from Michael Todd Beauty. These are both available from Ultra Beauty and will help you create a flawless base, and work on smoothing your skin. I haven’t really wrote about much beauty over on here, but my main blog actually started out as predominantly beauty. Eventually I got into plus size fashion blogging and still to this day, I love blogging about beauty products. Something I have seen for many years but never got my hands on, is one of those vibrating makeup brushes. Being the skeptic that I am, I truly did not see any use for them at all. What could they possibly be doing different? What could they add to my makeup? I’m always happy to admit when I’m wrong, and Michael Todd Beauty have seriously enlightened me.

Michael Todd Beauty Sonic Blend – $79.00

Described as the ‘most advanced makeup brush’, it wasn’t until I used it for myself that I really saw why these brushes actually are great. Sure, if you’re quite advanced at makeup and don’t often have blending problems, you probably won’t need this at all. However, for a lot of people, people with limited mobility, disabled people, people with chronic pain, or just new people to makeup, blending isn’t the easiest at first. I’ve definitely had my past mishaps and this brush could have helped avoid them. Sure, you still need to know the makeup basics, but what the 400+ micro=movements per second do is help to flawlessly blend even further. You can use this with cream, liquids, powders, highlighters, everything and it really does give an airbrushed, seamless result.

I first tried this with my foundation and I still needed to finish up with a beauty blender, but I’m 90% sure that’s because I use full coverage foundations for oily skin. It means they dry faster and because I mattify my skin before foundation, there’s not enough moisture to work with. A brush like this works better with a wetter product, more moisturiser, and basically something that won’t dry in parts whilst you’re still working with it. Instead, my contour was the product that worked best with this brush. It really helped to make sure my contour was as subtle as it could be, I even used a powder one on top as the brush just gave such a beautiful look.

When I was using this on my Instagram stories (I like to test things where people can see), I really enjoyed the vibrating effect underneath my eyes. It was BEYOND relaxing. Therapeutic and actually a real treat in itself. I really do like this brush and I’ll definitely be using it in the future.

Michael Todd Beauty Sonic Refresher – $99.00

Probably a key phrase on my website is, ‘I love a good scrub’. That applies to my entire body but especially my face. I’ve wanted a machine like this for SO long, I cannot express my joy to finally have one. This is a professional grade microdermabrasion system for home use. It’s not to be messed around with or used without following the instructions properly. You probably already know how amazing microdermabrasion treatments/products are, and this is no exception. It works on removing any lumps, bumps, uneven skin, and helps to leave it feeling softer, smoother, and firmer. This device also includes a vacuum suction action to help remove blackheads and clean pores. How amazing!?

This device features 3 different tips, coarse diamond, fine diamond, and small fine diamond tip for different areas and different skin types. Using all 3 together helps target every area of your face from general dullness, to fine lines. Think of it as buffing your skin. This isn’t something you would need to do every day, instead weekly or bi-weekly treatments would be better. The Sonic Refresher also has a built in mist action, to help hydrate and calm the skin after a treatment. I am loving using this to combat my congested skin.
