Ahhhhh the Sleepyhead. One of the most talked about baby products of this era. If you haven’t heard of it, the Sleepyhead is a sleeping pod, which can be used in a variety of ways under supervision. If you have been reading about sleeping for babies/safe sleeping, then you may also want to read a warning from The Lullaby Trust which stipulates the level of safety in using pods/nests. Whilst I am not here to comment on the safety warnings, I feel it’s important to share so you can make your own informed decision on your own children’s sleeping arrangements. You can also direct yourself to the long list of Safety tests that the sleepyhead has undergone (it’s rather extensive!) if you’re wanting to make an informed decision of if this product could be for you.

I have been sent the Sleepyhead Grand for purposes of review, and have put it to the test with my almost 1 year old who still doesn’t sleep as soundly as I’d like. When I spotted the white van down my street, I literally squealed at my DPD man as he carried the large box to my house. It was like the sleep gods had heard my prayers. Although, I was a little taken aback at the size. It was huge! This was welcome though, as I felt like at least it would last a decent amount of time!

Before I could get it out of the packaging, Jasper was already all over it. Fascinated by his new item.

I will declare now, that we used to use the Sleepyhead Deluxe+ when Jasper was a baby and he took to it like a fish to water. When he outgrew it, I moved him straight into his own cot and began trying to sleep train. Well, what a mare. I’ve tried everything for months. I’d say Jasper was 6 months when we stopped using the pod and we haven’t slept through again… till now. On the very first night we put Jasper in his new Sleepyhead my husband and I woke several times throughout the night, shocked and alarmed that Jasper hadn’t woken. Yet, each time we went in, he was sleeping soundly. This was the first time in MONTHS that Jasper slept through. Oh, and it wasn’t a fluke. It happened again and again.

Other than sleep, this pod has become Jasper’s new comfy spot. He forms a little reading den on it and loves to nuzzle up and get comfy watching Hey Duggie. As it’s so comfy I’ve been using it as a base to put my portable changing mat on for when I’m feeling a little too lazy to head up to his nursery for changing. Whilst this product is indeed large, it’s ideal for travel – either from upstairs to downstairs, to grandma’s or on a staycation with you. It has handles on the side making easy transportation and the plastic packaging it comes in forms the perfect portable travel bag.

It’s made of some really soft plush material, and the sides are incredibly sturdy considering their air permeability. All materials used are completely hypoallergenic, meaning you don’t need to worry about any allergies for your little one.

 

Whilst a fantastic product, the Sleepyhead Grand does come with a price tag of £220. For me, you can’t put a price on a good night’s sleep but it’s worth weighing up if you feel your child will take to this. Due to Jasper responding so well previously to the Deluxe, we had hoped for the best and were pleasantly rewarded. We will be using this product every day in the variety of ways listed!
