Plus Size Fall Fashion Must-Have Pieces for Autumn 2023
While I don’t necessarily think that you need to get a whole new wardrobe for every new season, I definitely like to indulge in a few new pieces every time it starts to get cold outside. There’s something about the days getting colder that makes me want to get lots of new clothes to wrap up in, and I think A/W is such a great season for fashion. Here are my plus size fall fashion must-have pieces for Autumn 2023.
Adorable Knitwear
I think its important to always have fun with fashion, so as soon as I saw this dinosaur cardigan from Cider I was absolutely tickled pink by it. The olive green colour makes it perfect for your Autumn wardrobe, while the little dinosaurs add some whimsy and personality to what you are wearing. I’d wear this cardigan open over a plain t-shirt and a maxi skirt – though it goes up to a size 28, wearing it without doing the buttons up often makes it accessible to a couple of sizes larger than they estimate!
Going for grunge
I don’t know what it is about Autumn, but I always get this urge to give my wardrobe a grunge makeover. A really easy way to do that but stick to your usual style is to go for a longer dress and pair it with a really great pair of chunky boots – there’s something about chunky boots that make you feel like you could take on the world! This dress from New Look is available up to a size 32 and while the pattern is very pretty, the colour gives off a really bold energy that I think works perfectly with some grunge boots.
Plus Size Dress for Special Occasions

The fall and winter seasons are full of parties. When shopping for formal or semi-formal occasions, I love the plus size dress collection from Ever-Pretty UK because they are offering many dresses in rich jewel tones like navy, emerald, green, teal. For the price it’s good quality. They also add new styles all the time. And a 30-day return is not difficult. My favorites are cocktail dresses that can be dressed up or down and worn to many different events.
Cosy but colourful
As much as I want to be warm when I go out in the Autumn or Winter, I don’t want to look boring – and so much of A/W fashion is about dark colours. I love the cosy collection from Better Tights because they are offering 80 denier tights in a selection of really bright and fun colours, so you can still let your personality shine through. My favourites are absolutely the fuschia, and the best thing is that if you do have a lot of muted colours already in your wardrobe you can pair these tights with them to give the outfit a new lease of life.
Cool, calm, collected and coordinated
Co-ord sets are very on trend right now, and it’s no wonder – we all know the magic feeling of ‘having your life together’ that we get when we wear matching bras and knickers, and wearing a jacket and trousers that match is like that but even better. Co-ords are great for wearing any time, looking smart enough for workwear but transitioning nicely into something you can wear when you socialise just by chucking a casual tee on underneath. This co-ord set from Simply Be is such a gorgeous deep red colour for Autumn and Winter, and having the jacket means you also have an additional layer of warmth for chilly days.
Practical Magic
You have to be practical when it comes to putting together a wardrobe that is perfect for Autumn/Winter, but being practical doesn’t mean compromising on style. This gorgeous burgundy coat from Evans will keep you cosy on a blustery or a snowy day, and the duffle coat look with the slight flare is totally on trend. Grab matching mittens and bobble had to put together a totally fashionable look for the coldest of mornings.
Something spooky
Every good Autumn wardrobe needs something that you could use as workwear on Halloween, and I love that this dress from Topsy Curvy is totally Halloween themed yet with a different take on the traditional Halloween colour palette. The little rain-boo ghosties are cute but spooky, giving you a chance to stand out as your best self in these bright and eye-catching colours. Topsy Curvy are great because they go up to a size 38, and their dresses are always a snug fit without feeling restrictive.
The ultimate slouchy jumper
As we move into Autumn and it starts to get cooler, I feel inclined to move into a comfier and more slouchy wardrobe. This jumper from Yours Clothing is the ultimate slouchy jumper – slightly oversized but looking smart, and with cuffed sleeves so they don’t hang and get in the way when you’re trying to get things done. This jumper would work with a simple pair of jeans and ankle boots if you are going out, but would be just as comfy paired with pyjama bottoms for snuggling up on the couch and watching a film.
