What made you start blogging?
I first started blogging to share my recipes and vintage finds but found it a little boring after a while as I didn’t get much engagement from readers. Then I started writing about fashion because it’s something I’ve always loved and I wanted to see people my size talking about it showing that being fat shouldn’t stop you wearing whatever you want, and everything took off! I actually did my first modelling campaign for Simply Be less than 6 months after posting my first outfit so I was really lucky!
Who do you admire in the blogging world?
Anyone who has put in the hard work and made it their full time job. I’d love to do that but I’m just not able to with my full time job as it really restricts the time I have to network and update my own channels. Megs from Wonderful You is a great example and she’s so lovely, I know personally that her online personality is her real personality and I hold honesty very highly so I love her to bits for this and the important things she writes about. Danielle Vanier and Bethany Rutter have been my long term fave plus bloggers because they both have amazing styling talent, wear whatever the hell they want and their looks are always bold and original.
What’s your favourite post on your blog?
I wrote a post back in 2014 called ‘BUT SERIOUSLY… If you’re fat, you can still wear whatever you want’ and it kinda blew up especially on Tumblr. I just wanted to express my hatred for all those ridiculous fat girl fashion rules and so many people seemed to connect with it, it was wonderful. You can take a look here.
Show us a favourite outfit?
I’m actually going to share two as they show both sides of my personality…
What did you want to be when you grew up?
I’ve wanted to be a fashion designer ever since I was a little girl and a dream of being a tattooist also developed in my teens. Now I’m nearly thirty all I really want is a job that allows me to use my creative talents and doesn’t cause me too much stress and anxiety!
Do you have any pets?
An English Bulldog called Betty and a Sphynx cat called Cleo. They’re both rescues and they’re my babies, literally as I’m not having kids!
What does She Might Be mean to you?
I think SMB is so important and I’m proud to be a part of it even if I’m not as active as the other amazing writers. There really is no online space like it that I know of, so supportive and friendly and completely body positive.
