In honour of Black History Month in the US, we’ve decided to compile a list of some of our favourite American-based black influencers, bloggers, activists, Instagrammers, writers, models and more. Some of those featured are hugely popular, and others are unappreciated diamonds who deserve more attention. This is Part 3 of this feature because when I started to compile the list there were just so many awesome babes to feature that I had to split up the post so it wasn’t ridiculously long. I implore you to check out their Instagrams and view more of their work, all of these folks are wonderful and you should be following them.
Simone Mariposa is an influencer, model, actor, motivational leader and artist, and creator of the awesome #WeWearWhatWeWant hashtag. She created a truly iconic set of photos covered in glitter that just make my heart sing.
Leah Vernon is a writer, influencer, model and speaks regularly about her experiences as a feminist Muslim. Her facebook is one of those that I check nearly every day to read her insights and thoughts.
Darnel Ghramm is a fashion and lifestyle blogger, and founder of the #BusteloTalk hashtag. Last year he was named the ‘Male Dapper Bomber of the Year’ 2017/18 during the National Curves show in Washington DC.
Ashleigh Shackelford is a non-binary babe based in Atlanta who is a writer, artist, activist and data futurist. They constantly speak up for the rights of sex workers, and their work as a data futurist is so important. They created Free Figure Revolution, which releases the Fat Census, and is focused specifically on highlighting those most left out of our movements, fat black people.
Kellie Brown is a plus size fashion blogger and the founder of And I Get Dressed, as well as the creator of the #fatatfashionweek hashtag. She is incredibly active on her blog and her style photos are awesome.
