I’ll be honest, when it comes to plus size clothing I would count myself as a bit of an expert. I know the names of lots of brands that stock plus size clothing, can usually recommend where to get certain style items from and have an idea of what size range most of them stock. However, they are times when I am caught out and surprised – I have to admit that Navabi is one of these times.
Getting To Know Navabi
It wasn’t until a few weeks ago that I really realised that Navabi would do clothes in my size. Ever since Bethany Rutter started to work for them their stuff has appeared more regularly on my social media news feeds and I know the brand SAY they stock up to a size 32, but often with brands this is more of a token gesture so unless I KNOW they stock actual items in my size I tend not to bother.
Trying The Brand
Thankfully the lovely Bethany gave me the chance to try one of their dresses which she kindly gifted me a few weeks ago. I have to say I adore the print and the fact it is unique to lots of other dresses on the high street. Price wise, it is a little out of my usual budget but I can see why those looking for long-lasting staple pieces would be happy to invest.
This horse-print Miss Y ruffle dress is priced £200, so probably not something you would buy to wear every day. But that said, surely a print like this is calling out just for a special occasion anyway!
The material is lovely and the fit is great. It doesn’t feel tight or dig in, in any way. It feels like it was actually made for a size 30/32 rather than being something that I am just making work for my body, which can sadly often be the case for brands not dedicated to offering higher-end sizes.
I am so glad that I was given the chance to try the dress, it’s something that is going to stick around in my wardrobe for a long time. It just goes to show that you should never assume anything regarding any brand, what they offer or how something is going to fit. Next time I am looking for a party dress that I want to invest actual money in, I know for sure I’ll be heading over to Navabi for a browse!
Have you ever shopped at Navabi? What did you think?
