Am I the only person who makes a really big deal out of the Christmas Day dress? Ever since I was a kid I’ve put a lot of thought and effort into the perfect dress to wear at xmas. I’ve always wanted to feel a little bit special and sparkly, and there is no better day than Christmas to be a glittering puffball of wonder. Since having children this obsession has got even worse, with colour schemes and matchy-matchy accessories galore. When I’m looking for a Christmas dress, I think ‘glitter’, I think ‘bold’ and I most definitely think ‘elastic waistband’ – after all, I won’t restrict my enjoyment of Christmas dinner for any dress. When I think of plus size glamour my mind jumps straight to Navabi, and here is my favourite of their festive offerings this season. Side note, I will not complain if Santa drops any of these into my stocking this Christmas.
1 – Nothing is more festive than looking like an ACTUAL SNOWFLAKE. This gorgeous dress by Ariella goes up to a size 32, which is absolutely fantastic and well worth the applause of our community. The colours are perfect for a white Christmas, with a shimmering touch of the occasional sequin. Sequins are 100% THE look for this Christmas.

2 – This sparkling maxi dress is the perfect way to look drop-dead-glamourous yet still be comfy while you’re wolfing down your sprouts this Christmas. Pair it up with a nordic cardi so you don’t get chilly, and you’re going to be glistening like fresh snow in this silver gown.
3 – The ultimate in sequin va-va-voom. Normally black would be a forbidden colour on Christmas day, but I just couldn’t resist this much sparkle. Lots of sequins can be a bit irritating to the insides of your arms, so wear a thin cardigan in a shimmering red or green to turn this look into a festive staple and make sure your arms don’t get scratched while you’re tearing into your presents.
4 – If you want to look like the the angel at the top of the tree, this offering from Manon Baptiste is perfect. It is floaty and glitzy and amazing, and there is no better way to look classy this Christmas. I love a bit of sequin action, and the ‘hint-of’ sequin element on this dress is perfect.
5 – No colour is more festive than red, and this deep red velvet is perfect for a cold winter morning. The off-the-shoulder element of this dress screams childhood Christmas, harking back to 80s and 90s fashion in the best possible way. The Manon Baptiste dresses reach a size 28 which, although not fully-inclusive, is a great example of extended plus sizing. Hopefully they have plans to extend this further!
Which is your favourite from my picks?
