AW16 is the season of grown up modern gothic glamour, with a big focus on individuality and highlighting your own personal beauty – I think we can all get on board with that!
The first AW16 Beauty Trend is the dark pout. Time to swap out those nude and dusky pinks for full on blackcurrant and berry shades. This Autumn it’s all about the dark pout, the closer to black the better. I’m not a huge fan of black black lips but a dark cherry red lipliner with a blackcurrant lipstick layered over it is perfect for this time of year and considering this was a look that was seen walking the catwalks recently, it’s a look I’ll be sticking with.
The smoky eye has been replaced in AW16 with the graphic liner trend. In fact, all black eyeliner everything. Whether you’re a kohl fan or a liquid liner lover, you’re on trend. Smudge it, draw graphic designs, layer it into your waterline, all perfect for achieving that modern gothic style as seen at Nicole Miller and Versace. You can still opt for a smoky eye though this AW sees the explosion of grown up glitter accents, so think taupe eye with gold glitter spotlight as seen at Tommy Hilfiger (all hail Pat McGrath!). If you’re more adventurous with your beauty style, this is the season to go all out! Why not try a glitter dash across the cheek bone or a cascade of shimmering glitter trailing from your eye look as seen at Burberry. Festival season might be over but that doesn’t mean we have to hop off the glitter train just yet!
Feel free to ditch the highlight, blush, shade combo we’ve all been obsessed with recently. AW16 is seeing the return of illuminated skin. Not too glowy but not too matte. The idea is to achieve a light glow all over with a dusting of pink or peach hues on the cheek, think healthy flush.
If you like something a little more on the bold side, this AW is giving you carte blanc to really express yourself. Graphic liner is a huge trend heading off the catwalk into Autumn. Decadent psychedelic swirls and embracing your arty side are to be celebrated and worn with pride as this season is all about embracing your own beauty and individuality! Definitely something we can get on board with!
Whatever trends you take inspiration from this AW, let your creative juices flow and BE YOU!
