After 50 Bucket List Recently my parents have been talking more about what they’d like to do now they’re both over 50, a bucket list if you will. I’ve been so surprised to hear at just how adventurous they are wanting to be and all the things they’d like to do. Their bucket list ranges from relaxing and having fun, to doing daring and exciting things that I never dreamed they’d be interested in. Here are just a few things on their bucket list and why they want to do them…
Travelling is something that my parents have only started to do more together since they hit 50, they’ve been on solo staycations, and weekends away in Europe. Plus they’re constantly hinting that we send them to more places, including Amsterdam, Rome, Barcelona, Prague and Madrid. I’m sure my mum will think of some more places soon to add onto her bucket list. It’s only in the last few years that they’ve realised just how easy travelling can be, with airport assistance for my mum, and even my brother to drive them to the airport, they really can explore wherever they want.
My mum wants to swim with dolphins, but she’d settle for just seeing them close up. She also wants to scuba dive, but only in very shallow water and she doesn’t want to wear a wetsuit. I’m laughing at how specific she is! Staying in a hotel for a month, of course one with a spa, is also on her bucket list and my dad doesn’t disagree. He loves being a pampered pooch and they would happily have treatments every single day.
Another extra exciting thing that surprised me is that my mum wants to go in a helicopter! Heights don’t really appeal to me but it seems we have an adrenaline junky in the house. Wine tasting in a vineyard in France, or Italy, she’s not too bothered. If there’s wine involved, she’ll go. As well as sipping drinks at a water bar on a remote island are also on her bucket list. Perhaps even a cruise around the Mediterranean.
I’m definitely going to help her achieve some of her bucket list, and one of the things I really want to tick off is visiting Longleat Safari Park. We used to watch the program on TV about there years ago and it looks so fantastic! Of course I wouldn’t mind the travelling either, but I’m assuming she wants to go with my dad for that.
