We are already one month into 2019 – oh how time flies! So, I thought that I would put together a little list of the five most popular interior trends that I’ve stumbled across online so far this year, and those that are set to keep on rising throughout the year.
So, if you’re looking to renovate your home into a stylish little nest, then here are 5 tips to follow to ensure your home is super trendy:
Inspired by Marie Kondo
If you are yet to hear of the Netflix hit TV series Tidying Up with Marie Kondo, then you’ve probably been living under a rock since the beginning of the year.
Marie Kondo is a Japanese tidying expert and believes that any object that doesn’t bring you instant joy, when it is held close to your heart, should go straight into your pile for the local charity shop. There goes my laundry basket!
Many people have already chimed up to say that Marie Kondo has helped get rid of the junk that they’ve been meaning to get rid of a while. Looks like 2019 is the beginning of your clutter-free home!
This trend was on the rise in 2018, for example, the cardboard bed came to the UK, as well as plenty of other sustainable furniture. I mean, who wouldn’t be on-board helping save the planet, right?
Homes will start to be filled with sustainable, recyclable and vegan furniture with minimal plastic usage, and items that will limit the amount of energy being used.
Minimalist beds such as the divan bed base can always be spiced up with a statement headboard, to add luxury to any bedroom. Think of a hotel suite, they always have big, bold headboards, and this is because they know it can make the room look a little more elegant without really having to try too hard.
Buying a bed base and then adding a larger-than-life headboard is definitely a trend that you’re set to see this year.
Statement Light Fixtures
Overhead statement lights are set to make a return in 2019, and there are so many lights to choose from that you are going to be overwhelmed in any DIY or homeware store.
While chandeliers are always great over a dining room table, they may not be the best addition to a bedroom. Think carefully before making your light-purchase as not every light suits every room.
Lots of Plants
Both men and women are looking to increase their wellbeing more than ever before, and having plants dotted around different rooms in the home will help with that.
Having plants around a bedroom not only looks great but also has many health benefits. Plants help with our stress levels, which is usually the biggest reason as to why we take such a long time to get to sleep sometimes.
